Amy Goyer

Amy Goyer is a writer, speaker and consultant specializing in caregiving.  She serves as AARP’s national Family and Caregiving Expert.  In addition, she is a columnist and spokesperson, has a “Taking Care” youtube series and vlog.  Ms. Goyer started her career as a music therapist and has worked in the aging field for more than 35 years at the local, state, national and international levels.

Ms. Goyer has been a strong advocate for older adults, children and families for more than 30 years at the local, state, national and international levels.  She started her career as a music therapist and adult day services administrator, and later worked at the Ohio Department of Aging before joining AARP, where for the past 15 years she has led the intergenerational and grandparenting programs.

A passionate champion for family caregivers, Ms Goyer has been a caregiver for her grandparents, parents and sister.  She currently cares for her 93 year old Father, Robert, who has Alzheimer’s disease and lives with her in Phoenix, Arizona.

While in the Lexington and Louisville area, Ms. Goyer will be a featured presenter at the 22nd annual Next Best Years Conference to be held Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Fayette County Extension Office in Lexington.

Ms. Goyer will participate in an interview with KET “Connections Show” host Renee Shaw.

In addition, the Bluegrass Area Agency on Aging & Independent Living will spotlight Ms. Goyer on a podcast discussing “Caregiving and Technology”.
