Aging Advisory Council (AAC)

Home/Committees/Councils/Aging Advisory Council (AAC)

This Council, mandated by the federal Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA) and KAR 1:220, advises the AAAIL on all community policies, programs and actions affecting older persons throughout the region. The Council also reviews and advises the AAAIL on its annual Area Plan, a report and needs assessment of services and assistance throughout the region required by Kentucky’s Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL).

At least half of the Council is composed of Bluegrass residents 60 years and older, including minority individuals, who participate in or are eligible for OAA Title III programs such as general support services, nutrition programs and caregiver support. Remaining Council membership includes representatives of healthcare and support service providers, local officials and other interested individuals. This group is directed by the AAAIL.
