Area Agency on
Aging & Independent
Living Council
This Council, mandated by the federal Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA) and KAR 1:220, advises the Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living (AAAIL) on all community policies, programs, and actions affecting older persons throughout the region. The Council also reviews and advises the AAAIL on its annual Area Plan, a report, and needs assessment of services and assistance throughout the region required by Kentucky’s Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL).
At least half of the Council is composed of Bluegrass residents 60 years and older, including minority individuals, who participate in or are eligible for OAA Title III programs such as general support services, nutrition programs, and caregiver support. The remaining Council membership includes representatives of healthcare and support service providers, local officials, and other interested individuals.
