The BGADD provides comprehensive public administration services to communities within our region. Acting as an extension of local city and county government staff, we offer a wide range of technical assistance. BGADD supports communities with state statute compliance, administrative guidance, funding opportunities, and legislative tracking. Our expertise includes managing programs like the Area Development Fund, Land and Water Conservation Fund, and Recreational Trails grants, as well as grants for public protection, historic preservation, and resource conservation and development. Department for Community Planning (DCP) staff includes economic development professionals with years of training and experience in all aspects of economic development on both the local and regional levels.  As BGADD staff members, they can efficiently coordinate efforts between local governments and State and Federal agencies to attain grant funding to leverage conventional and secondary market financing.   They assist both private business and government entities in research, development, and presentation of economic development analysis and strategies. In addition, BGADD economic development specialists serve as directors of Economic Development Authorities (EDA) across the region, assisting local EDA members in ongoing economic development planning and marketing for their communities.  Other available services include brownfield remediation and redevelopment, entrepreneurship and small-business assistance, and industrial park planning and development.

Email hosting is a service that allows users to send, receive, and store emails on a server, and to create a custom email domain. Email hosting is different from free email providers like Gmail and Yahoo because it allows users to create professional email addresses on their own domain. The BGADD also provides technical assistance associated with this service.

The BGADD’s GIS Department offers a technical background and a data repository for local communities and utilities to utilize for the purposes of decision-making, emergency management, and planning.

BGADD staff are well-versed in a variety of funding sources and their appropriate uses. The BGADD provides application and submission assistance free of charge.

In the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Area Development Districts (ADDs) have been tasked with developing and updating these plans on a five-year basis. The Bluegrass ADD is responsible for developing and updating plans for Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, and Woodford Counties.

Basic IT training, or basic computer training, offers the fundamental skills needed to use a computer or specific software. These skills can include: Navigating an operating system, Organizing computer files, Creating documents in office software, Sending and receiving emails, Understanding security threats, Using spreadsheets and databases, Creating presentations and can be customized to your needs.

Through a partnership with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), the Bluegrass Area Development provides planning support for activities associated with the Statewide Transportation Planning Program.

The Kentucky General Assembly significantly restructured water resource management through the passage of Senate Bill 409 in 2000, amending KRS Chapter 224A. This legislation tasked the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA) with implementing a comprehensive water management program to extend public water services to all households in the state by 2020. Area Development Districts (ADDs) were directed to collaborate with KIA to establish statewide water management planning areas.
