Planning Services

BGADD’s Community Planning staff provides support to local city, county, and joint planning & zoning departments and commissions in a variety of ways. Our services include:

      • Comprehensive Planning
      • Base Studies and Reports
      • Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulation Revisions
      • Technical assistance (i.e. Reviewing Preliminary and Final Development Plans, GIS Services, Temporary Staffing, and more!)

Bluegrass Regional Planning Council (BRPC)

The BRPC was formed in 1990 to act in an advisory capacity on planning matters throughout the District as outline in KRS 147A.125.

The Council provides workshops and speakers on a variety of planning & zoning topics that are selected by BRPC’s voting members.

To ensure cohesion of planned development throughout the District, the Council reviews comprehensive plans for regional impact and develops regional transportation, infrastructure, and land use plans for the district. The Council also makes recommendations regarding the regional impact of proposed Comprehensive Plans and Plan amendments of planning units within the District.

The Council also supports professionalism in planning by sponsoring training and continuing education opportunities, both as part of its regular meetings and through special events. Attendance at regular meetings can be counted toward state–required continuing education (CEU) training for planning commissioners, Board of Adjustment members, zoning administrators and planning professionals and their staff as required by KRS 147A.027.
