The Bluegrass Area Development District held their quarterly board meeting on October 25th at the Kentucky Community & Technical College System in Versailles Kentucky.  The guest speaker for this meeting was Rep. Jason Petrie.  Rep. Petrie is diligently working to spread information about House Bill 9 (HB 9) which he sponsors from his leadership position as the co-chair of the Appropriations and Revenue Committee.  Rep. Petrie was instrumental in securing additional funds for all Area Development Districts in 2022 through an increase in the Joint Funding Authority.  If passed, HB 9 will provide matching state funds that will help Kentucky Communities eligible to compete for federal funds available through the bi-partisan infrastructure bill and other sources of federal grant funding.

In addition to the presentation from Rep. Petrie, Executive Director David Duttlinger discussed the need for the Bluegrass ADD to improve their Board Governance through revising their bylaws.  A draft copy of the revisions will be presented to the Full Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting on January 24th.  If passed, the Bluegrass would strive to increase the relevancy of their advisory committees, increase the engagement of Board members, and move the date of the annual meeting to more closely align with the end of the fiscal year.
