Transportation Planning

Through a partnership with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), BGADD provides support as part of the Statewide Transportation Planning Program. Our goal is to improve mobility, safety, and connectivity across Central Kentucky by ensuring local and regional voices are represented in long-range transportation decisions.

At the heart of this work is the review, evaluation, and prioritization of highway, bikeway, pedestrian, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) needs. BGADD facilitates public input and coordinates with cities, counties, KYTC District Highway Offices, and other regional partners to shape transportation priorities that ultimately feed into the KYTC Statewide Highway Plan.

BGADD is responsible for project prioritization in 15 counties: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, and Woodford. The Lexington Area MPO manages prioritization in Fayette and Jessamine Counties, but BGADD continues to provide planning support across all 17 district counties.
