On Monday, April 26, the Governor’s Department for Local Government announced the award of a $440k Economic Development CDBG to assist in the development of a new Bourbon Distillery in Midway. BGADD’s Greyson Evans assisted the City and the Woodford Economic Development Authority with project development. Bluegrass Distillers, an established craft bourbon distillery out of Lexington, has purchased the historic “Elkwood” Farm: a 60-acre property with a mansion constructed in 1835 at its center. The mansion will become a tasting room, visitors’ center, and museum. The development will bring at least 22 new jobs to Midway, and will create over $400k in revenue for the Woodford EDA to use for future economic development.
